When The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was first revealed, there was quite a bit of speculation about the new overworld and how it might be revealed. linked with the map in previous entries. Now, just a week after the release of the last entry, this appears to have been confirmed.
As highlighted on social media and elsewhere online by Zelda enthusiasts, it appears the new adventure actually has some connections to the Super Nintendo classic A Link to the Past. This doesn’t seem to be a coincidence either, as many landmarks are visibly lined up with the older game’s map.
Some theories (as you can see in the social post below) also suggest that Gorons, Gerudo, Zora and Deku could have lived in the same world, but were simply not accessible in A Link to the Past.
IGN has apparently called in in-house Zelda expert and reviewer Tom Marks – and confirmed that several landmarks such as the “graveyard and church” were all in the right place as well, and the house where Link lived in A Link to the Past is there, even though he lives in Suthorn Village in the last top-down entry.
There are all kinds of other similarities between the two games, seemingly confirming the link. These connections seem to fuel speculation about the Zelda timeline and how it fits into A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds.
