Following yesterday’s announcement that Samsung’s One UI 7 has been delayed until early 2025, news arrives that will make the wait more bearable. Samsung gets a redesigned camera app in One UI 7 that should make it significantly more convenient to take photos with just one hand.
Android Authority shared a YouTube video outlining its findings, but it’s worth watching the clip for yourself. It lasts just over 6 minutes and provides a lot of information about the new interface.
User SamMobile posted a video describing his hands-on experience with One UI 7. Around the 5 minute mark he goes into details and shows off the new camera app, highlighting some notable changes.
The biggest change is that the viewfinder settings have been moved to the bottom of the screen, making them easier to access when using the camera with just one hand. It’s now available as a carousel, making it easier to browse all the different options without doing any Simone Biles-worthy stretches with your hand. In other words, you can now turn the flash on and off, change the aspect ratio and much more without delving deep into the menus.
The app will also automatically display the relevant settings depending on the camera mode you’ve selected. We first saw these changes in leaked screenshots a while ago, but the images weren’t clear. This video shows the app from much closer.
Keep in mind that Samsung hasn’t announced the One UI 7.0 beta yet, so the final version of the app may change by the time it releases sometime next year. Either way, with everything this new interface brings, it’s worth getting excited about.
