Capcom issues a statement regarding Street Fighter 6 Outfit 4 post circulating online

Street Fighter 6 received its first new costumes since launching in Outfit 3 all the way back in December 2023 for the original cast, but things have been pretty quiet on that front since Akuma, AKI, Ed, and Rashid got their digs in May.

With many discussions going on between players about Outfit 4, Capcom just had to release a statement regarding a post claiming to contain a quote from the developers.

UltimaShadowX recently posted on X/Twitter the alleged quote that quickly attracted a lot of attention online

Street Fighter 6 Co-Producer Shuhei Matsumoto spoke to IGN about the future of character costumes:

“Despite the hurdles, we are very happy to receive the third outfits! Outfit 4 for each character is on its way and is expected to be released sometime in late 2026!”

While the post seems like it was made as a pretty obvious joke, since “late 2026” would be an absurdly long time to wait for actual new SF6 costumes, this apparently caused people to go back to Capcom and question them about it.

Apparently that was enough to get them to release a statement on the matter over the weekend.

“Attention. This user has posted messages that deviate from or distort the content of the interview,” reads the statement from the official Japanese Street Fighter account, translated with some adjustments via Google. “We would appreciate it if you would consider the official communications as correct information.

‘We have received a large number of inquiries regarding this matter in recent hours, so although it is unusual, we would like to take the opportunity to make this announcement.

“We hope you continue to enjoy Street Fighter 6.”

So it turns out that an actual interview was conducted with IGN Japan at Tokyo Game Show 2024, and director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto were asked about Outfit 4.

So what did they actually have to say about this matter?

Unfortunately we don’t have the full translation yet, but our first transcription should provide most of the answers.

It seems like the lead developers are still coy about new costumes for Street Fighter 6.

Matsumoto spends most of the time talking about how well the players responded to outfit 3.

They were surprised by the data they received showing that they were very popular so far.

Nakayama seems to joke about trying to keep some secrets, but that’s about it.

As far as we can tell at this point, neither of them are making any concrete statements about Outfit 4 or when we can actually expect it.

However, we will update this when we have the full translation of the discussion.

In any case, it’s been confirmed that Season 2 characters M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena will also receive Outfit 3 options, but we’re also still waiting to see what these will look like and when they’ll arrive .

While not new costumes, there are currently special Darkstalkers outfit colors available to unlock for free in Street Fighter 6, but they won’t be around for much longer.

Stay tuned for more updates on Street Fighter 6 and their future plans for more content.
