Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 tapped Wyll’s approval

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 tapped Wyll’s approval

Key Takeaways

  • Patch 7 seems to have bugged Wyll.
  • Now Wyll, even with great approval, will greet you as if he hates you.
  • There is a mod to fix this while we wait for Larian to fix the problem.

Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is now finally out on all platforms, allowing everyone to experience the new endings and various customizations it introduced – not to mention official mod support. But no matter how well it’s resolved, it seems like a new bug has been introduced: Wyll hates everyone.

That’s right, the nicest, kindest man in the camp is very, very curt with all of us. While the patch should finally give him a unique greeting if we had high enough approval, it appears that this isn’t working as intended as many of us seem to be getting a low approval greeting instead.

This has been the case in my game since Patch 7 came out. Even with the early stages of his romance activated in my last playthrough, he now greets me with a rather cold, “Do you have something to say?”

I am far from alone in this. PC players who got the patch early noticed this issue last month, and console players are experiencing it now. Someone even claims to know what the problem is, but this has not yet been confirmed by Larian.

The Tumblr user has since said he has been in contact with someone from Larian and the matter is being investigated. With any luck, Wyll will remember soon enough that he doesn’t hate us. In the meantime, I’m going to pretend he feels bad about the whole tadpole thing.

If you don’t want to wait for Larian to drop an official fix, there’s a mod that gives him the intended approving greeting.

Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on September 5 for PC players and was delayed to October 1 for console and Mac. It added new evil endings and mod support, meaning mods are available on console for the first time ever. It has also made PC modding a lot easier, as fan creations can now be enabled in an in-game menu.
